Member Of Parliament (Mangalore),Mr Nalin Kumar Katil called on the Union Minister for Railways,Mr M Mallikarjuna Kharge in New Delhi on Aug-29 And submitted a memorandum regarding the “Needs of Railway projects in coastal region of Karnataka” such as
1) Formation of a New Railway Divisionwith Head Quarters at Mangalore and to join with South Western Railway(SWR) or Konkan Railway.
2) Amendment to HMRDC rule to make provision/permission to run 2 more express train to the existing only 3 trains via Hassan-Arasikere& Via Mysore-Hassan
3) Commencement of a New train with 21 coaches between Bangalore and Mangalore via Arasikere in view of huge number of railway commuters urged for a separate train between Coastal Mangalore and Capital Karnataka through a shortest route.
4) The Newly announced Weekly train NO.065665/06566 between Yashwanthpur to Mangalore should be routed via Arasikere-Hassan as it is likely to be commenced Via Salem instead of Arasikere. The said train is announced in Railway Budget 2013-14 will be taking a long journey of 18 hours via Salem instead of 12 hours via Arasikere-Hassan.Now it is brought to my notice from a huge number of railway commuters andCitizens in general that the newly announced BANGALORE-MANGALORE weekly train will run via Bangarpet-Salem-Kannur. News papers were also published the matter in news paper stating that said train will be routed via Salem.
5) Converting the tri-weekly day trainfrom Yashwanthpur to Karwar as daily day train in view of increase in number of passengers.
6) Converting the existing Mangalore–Kabakaputtur- Subramanyaroad Passenger train as a DEMU train& extending the Train No.56645 upto Subramanya road in every evening.
7) The incoming timing of the Kabakaputtur passenger and Chervattur Passenger to Mangalore central station daily before 9.00 ami.e. before Departure of Yashwanthpur express to Karwar and Kannur in view to Facilitative school children’s and working people to reach their destinations in time
8) Increase the number of platform( 4th& 5th ) in Mangalore central railway station to accommodate more and more trains.
Union Minister Mr Kharge Assures that he will look in to it.
