Puttur: Akhila Bharata Tulu Sammelana Gets Under WayPuttur: Akhila Bharata Tulu Sammelana Gets Under Way

Puttur, Oct 8: ‘Akhila Bharata Tulu Sammelana’ organized under the aegis of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Kannada and culture department, and Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, was inaugurated here on Friday October 7.

Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, in his inaugural address, called on the people to sustain Tulu and its culture that is unique from other cultures in the world.

“Tulu natives are adventurous in nature and are found in every nation worldwide,” said Dr Heggade. He urged the Tulu speakers to promote their indigenous culture wherever they are.

He opined that true happiness lies more in the preparations for the Sammelan than in the actual event.

Professor Dr Vivek Rai, visiting professor, German University, said that the internet has enabled Tulu learning on a large scale after the World Tulu Convention.

State minister Shobha Karandlaje was the chief guest, released new books on the occasion.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel presided over the programme. He lauded the efforts of Dr Paltady Ramakrishna Achar, president of Karnataka Tulu Academy, in promoting Tulu and its distinct culture.

Puttur MLA Mallika Prasad hoisted the Kannada flag. Chinnappa Gowda, B A Vivek Rai, Dr Sunita Shetty, Divakar Shetty Sangli, and Savanoor gram panchayat president Sudha S Rai were present on the dais.

Sammelan reception committee president Savanoor Sitaram Pai welcomed the gathering. Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli conducted the programme.

Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy members Dr Duggappa Kajekar, Dr Padmanabha Kekunnaya, Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, Yogisaha Kanchan Baikampady, Sarapady Ashok Kumar Shetty, Yedupati Gowda, Dayanand Kattalsar, Uday Dharmasthala, Ratnavati J Baikady, Simantoor Chandrahas Suvarna, Premalata Rao, Vilas Rao Nitte, and Mangala Nayak assisted in the programme.

A procession was held from Padmavati Basadi with Tulunadu cultural performers till the venue.
