Member of Parliament Mr Nalin Kumar Katil called on the Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture, (Independent Charge), Dr. Mahesh Sharma in New Delhi on July-24 and appealed the Union Minister for the Allocation of grants for the proposed Multipurpose Cultural Complex at Mangalore, Dakshina Kannada District under Scheme for Tagore Cultural Complexes and also urged to start new flight services from Mangalore-Delhi via Bangalore and Mangalore-Pune.
Mangalore District Administration has allotted 3.35 acre land for the proposed Multipurpose Cultural Complex at Mangalore. The Complex will be housing the offices of Kannada, Konkani and Barry Academy 60% of the project cost is sought from the Department under Scheme for Tagore Cultural Complexes. Mr Nalin Kumar Katil briefed the Union Minister.
1) There is a big gap in the art-related infrastructure in his Parliamentary Constituency. This gap has to be bridged through injection of due funding through this Scheme which effort is directly connected with the propagation and promotion of performing arts,in particular and art and culture in general.
2) Mangalore is the headquarters of Dakshina Kannda District. It is surrounded by Districts like Udupi, Manipal, Chikkamangalore, Belthangady and famous tourists destinations like kolluru Mookambika, Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Horanadu temple. Beside this it is an important centre of Educational Commercial and Industrial hub of the entire coastal region of Karnataka and Kerala States. These are number of Industrial units like power Generation, shipping Building oil refineries and Chemical fertilizers operation here. Every day large number of people travels to Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and other major Indian cities However people are facing difficulties as these is No Direct Flight service between Delhi and Mangalore.
